Masterful Display: EFYI Drones Craft a Soaring Dragon Spectacle Around Tianjin Tower
On September 16, 2023, the 2nd National Vocational Skills Competition of the People's Republic of China commenced in Tianjin. To celebrate this occasion, EFYI Intelligent Control collaborated with Tianjin Tower (a landmark skyscraper in northern China) to present a groundbreaking drone light show that evening. During the performance, a majestic Chinese dragon formed by 800 drones took flight, creating a mesmerizing spectacle of "A Dragon’s Dance Around the Tower" as it gracefully weaved around the iconic Tianjin Tower.
This flight demonstration transcended conventional drone formations by overcoming significant technical challenges, with signal stability emerging as a critical hurdle. "The technical complexity of circumnavigating the tower is immense," explained Ma Zhicheng, Testing Director of EFYI. The team had to mitigate signal interference caused by the tower structure through optimized on-side network configurations and refined flight paths to address GPS interference.
Beyond these measures, the team meticulously verified every operational detail - from network architecture optimization to adjusting the dragon's spiral posture, trajectory, and flight speeds. Over two months of intensive preparation, EFYI's cross-functional teams worked tirelessly, pursuing perfection through relentless innovation to conquer these technical barriers.
"Our priority was merging Tianjin Tower with Chinese cultural elements," said Zhang Haijiao, Creative Planning Manager. The team refined the dragon's biomimetic design, particle trajectory effects, and lighting transitions to deliver a visually stunning experience that showcased the aesthetic synergy between architecture and drone technology.
The seamless execution required meticulous pre-event planning. From initial tests with small groups to the final 800-drone performance, each phase brought the team closer to mastering precision at scale.
